SFDF to attend today’s Cross Party Group on Food meeting in Scottish Parliament

PRESS RELEASE
The Scottish Food and Drink Federation (SFDF) will attend today’s Cross Party
Group on Food meeting in the Scottish Parliament. The meeting will address some
of
the policy pressure points involved in climate change policies.
Professor Phil Thomas from the Scottish Salmon Producers’ Organisation (SSPO)
will give an opening presentation entitled ‘Managing Change; Implementing Food
and
Climate Change Policies’ which will be followed by open debate.
The meeting will be chaired by Jim Hume MSP, co-convener 3 of the Cross Party
Group on Food.

2. The Cross Party Group on Food has been set up to:
- Raise awareness of food issues from production through to consumption in
Scotland and their importance to the consumer, the economy, the environment and
to the
health of Scotland.
- Act as a policy forum for discussion and updating on food issues in Scotland.
- Contribute to policy development on a range of food issues in Scotland.
3. The Cross Party Group on Food has 5 co-conveners, one for each party in the
Scottish Parliament:
- Jim Hume (Lib Dem.)
- John Scott (Cons.)
- Lewis Macdonald (Lab.)
- Patrick Harvie (Green Party)
- Rob Gibson (SNP)
