Industry continues to respond to society’s concerns about the health of the
nation, particularly in relation to rising obesity levels, and we are
absolutely
committed to playing a positive role in this debate.

The aim of our Health and Wellbeing Steering Group is to work constructively with Government, regulators and others to help find
solutions to the complex issues at the heart of the diet and health challenge
here in the UK.

The Group aims to drive forward the Food and Health Manifesto
commitments unveiled by the industry in 2004. Much progress has been made in
delivering on these commitments, particularly in areas such as front-of-pack
nutrition labelling, workplace wellbeing and product reformulation, where the
UK is widely
acknowledged to be leading the world.

Delivering Healthy Growth

Over the last 100 years the food
environment has changed dramatically. Our industry has responded to those
demands
by continually innovating to meet changing consumer needs, providing safe,
nutritious and affordable food for a growing population.

Food and Drink Labelling guide

With this guide we aim to de-mystify some of the changes that have been
introduced under this legislation; in doing so we hope to equip healthcare
professionals with information to help their patients adapt to the new food
labels and use
them with confidence.

Public Health Responsibility Deal

Launched in March 2011, the Public Health Responsibility Deal is an important
part of Government’s long-term strategy to improve public health.

It works by encouraging industry, NGOs, health professionals, and other
organisations to work together in partnership towards improved consumer health.
